These soak up the pee fast. They are kind of quilted that way there is not a thin top layer that the dogs rip up. I have a 5 month old Jack Russell and they work great in her kennel. If you have a big dog that pee's a lot I don't know how they would work. These are the best pee pads out there. I have tried them all! I would buy these again and recommend to friends! The Hartz Antibacterial Training pads have a quilted top for maximum absorbency and does not leave tracks. The pad also controls the smell of urine. I have 4 small dogs from 3 lbs to 8 lbs, that use these pads 24-7. I have been using these pads for 5 years. The larger size, 23X30 for larger dogs is also a great product. Both products are great with a great price.
